Publisher's original boards with lettering in gilt to spine and crucifix to front board in gilt. With ribbon marker. Spine is loose but this has not resulted in any damage to gutters or hinges, and page block is unaffected with no loose pages. Corner tears on two pages historically repaired with tape. Softening and bumping, and very slight loss of cloth, at extremities. Handling (?) wear and a number of small stains to boards. There are some occasional pencil underlinings and a few annotations written neatly in pencil, but otherwise the pages are basically clean and unmarked. Some sunning and fading to spine and boards, although gilt lettering still easily legible. Mild age-toning to page block and very slight foxing to base of page block. Previously owned by Gordon Dimon whose name is written in pencil on the title page.
