Bilingual reader for Navajo children, based on a traditional Dakota folktale; illustrated by the noted Dakota modernist Oscar Howe. The book is one in…a series of elementary readers issued by the United States Indian Service in the 1940s and 1950s. Like the present title, many of these were written by Ann Nolan Clark (1896-1995), who would win a Newberry Medal for her 1953 book Secret of the Andes.
