Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Anna G. Steenmeijer (ed.), A Tribute to Anne Frank. Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1971. Hardback, red textured cloth boards with gilt spine lettering, issued without a dust jacket (institutional publication). Large-format anthology gathering dedications, historical background, rea…der reactions and illustrated plates assembled in collaboration with Otto Frank and Henri van Praag; the book includes color and black-and-white plates, interpretive essays and reproductions of letters and artwork related to The Diary of Anne Frank. This copy is complete and internally clean with bright color plates and intact leaves. The binding is tight and square; boards show only light rubbing and a small bumped corner. The front and several interior leaves carry school stamps and a small pencilled notation; a school pocket remnant and a GAR-FIELD HIGH SCHOOL LIBRARY stamp appear on the pastedown and several preliminary leaves. There is a small scribble at the front endpaper, otherwise no owner inscriptions. Because this volume was issued by the publisher as an institutional/commemorative edition, no dust jacket was provided. Edition / Provenance & Condition statement. Colophon and publisher information identify this as the First American edition (printed in Holland) of the Doubleday 1971 issue. Condition: Good for an ex-library hardcover - binding sound, plates bright, text complete; library markings (stamps, pocket remnant), light external rubbing and bumped corners are noted for accuracy. Provenance: deaccessioned from Gar-field High School Library. Edited by Anna G. Steenmeijer with contributions and collaboration from Otto Frank (Anne Frank's father) and Henri van Praag (Chairman, Anne Frank Foundation). The anthology compiles tributes, historical context and international responses to The Diary of Anne Frank and was published to broaden the diary's interpretive and educational reach.

Hardcover. 4to. White paper over boards with grey lettering, pictorial dust jacket. 120pp. Extensive illustrations, pictorial endpapers. Very good/very good. Jacket edgeworn, with scuff at upper right of front panel. A tight, quite nice first U.S. edition of this celebration of the Dutch-German girl (1929-45) whose posthumously-…published diary made her the most famous of all Holocaust victims -- reviews her life, the stage and film versions of her tale, etc. This unique copy bears choice autograph additions from four figures from the original 1955 Broadway stage adaptation: Tipped to half-title page is an enormous, bold signature in black fineline from director GARSON KANIN (1912-99) on a 4" X 7½" sheet, while tipped to facing blank leaf (top to bottom) are items from three cast members. At top SUSAN STRASBERG (1938-99; portrays Anne Frank) signs in red fineline a glossy 4" X 5" head-and-shoulders portrait as an adult; below this JACK GILFORD (1907-90; portrays Mr. Dussel) signs in blue ballpoint a heavy stock 5" X 3" card, dating it 7 January 1971 at upper right; and at bottom LOU JACOBI (1913-2009; portrays Mr. Van Daan) signs in red ballpoint a matching card, dating it 7 March 1970 at upper right. Laid in are Gilford and Jacobi's original transmittal envelopes. An interesting, superbly unusual copy.
