Hardcover. Condizione: Fair. Condizione sovraccoperta: No Dust Jacket. Illustrated by Author's Black and White Photos (illustratore). First Edition; First Printing. Green cloth covers with gold lettering on spine and front cover. No dust jacket. The book is in fair condition, with a split beginning in the text block between pages 160 and161. However, there are no loose or loosening pages. The covers are a bit soiled and worn with staining on front and rear boards. The first 16 pages have a half circle water stain of about an inch and half on the top center of the pages. Despite the stated flaws, this is a decent reading copy of a hard to find book. ; Jennings and Graham first printings are identified by no additional printings listed on copyright page. ; 12 full page black and white photos; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 219 p. pages; Woodruff was an early Canadian woman writer (1850 - 1938) who was born in St. Davids, Ontario where she lived until the age of 14. She attended the State Normal School at Brockport, NY, returned to St. Davids for a while and then moved back the the US. Woodruff published three children's novels that were set in her hometown of St. Davids and were illustrated with photographs taken by her depicting country life. According to the Niagara on the Lake Public Library's biography, the plot of "Three Boys and a Girl" "is the story of a boy who longs to own a camera. His father thought it was not only a waste of money but a "criminal" waste of time. He told Arthur that if he wanted the camera he would have to earn the money to buy it. Arthur decides to do so by raising chickens. He has adventures with a weasel, raccoon and a man of the village who steals the chickens in order to buy liquor. All obstacles are eventually overcome and Arthur is able to purchase a camera. His enthusiasm is so great that he wins awards, arousing the jealousy and enmity of another boy in the community." Page 11: "For a long time Arthur Vance had been longing to own a camera; not a toy affair, such as was possessed by some of his young companions but a real good article, with a first-class lens and accompanying paraphernalia, and up-to-date in every respect. Such a camera would cost a considerable sum of money; more than his father seemed willing to expend upon what he considered a use-less fad", and an almost "Criminal waste of time.".

As new condition textured cream boards, forest green cloth spine, and gold front cover and spine lettering contained in an as new condition price-clipped color illustrated dust jacket.1989 Pulitzer Prize winning novel for Fiction. "Maggie is harum-scarum, impetuous, soft; Ira is competent, patient, infallible. They have been married for twenty-eight years. On a hot summer day they are driving to Deer Lick, Pennsylvania, ninety miles from their home in Baltimore, to the funeral of Maggie's best friend's husband. And during the course of that journey, with its serveral unexpected detours - into the lives of old friends and grown children, into memories of the past and attempts to rearrange the present - Anne Tyler shows us all there is to know about a marriage: the expectations, the disappointments; the way children can create storms in a family; the way that wife and husband can fall in love all over again; the way that everything - and nothing- changes." - from the inner front jacket flap.
