Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. 1st Edition. 242 pp., illustrations, pictorial end boards. Stated first printing. A fine, tight, sharp cornered, unmarked copy in a good unclipped dust jacket with some chipping and internal repairs evident. This book is the story of American cattle brands. In effect it tells the virile history of the life and lore of the range. Here also are explained with realistic detail the processes of branding and ear-marking, the tricky methods of "rustlers" past and present, and the unwritten law of the open range. The whole business of brands is more fascinating than all the economics of cattledom - and more enlightening. All of it undiluted Americana.
