stapled wrappers. Condizione: fair. 16mo; 91, 9 pages of ads ( promoting up to Dialogue N0. 40 ), lacks rear wrapper, orange top wrapper chipped at bottom and detached. H. Elliott McBride's contribution, " A 'Colored' Lecture" is for four lads, is in Negro dialect, and takes place in a school-room. The lead piece, by Metta Victor is, " Invisible heroes, or, What the telephone did : a dress drama for parlor exhibition, or amateur theatricals, for five young ladies." That appears to be a rather early use of a telephone in a dramatic setting { The telephone was patented only as recently as 1876}. In THE HOUSE OF BEADLE AND ADAMS, by Johannsen, is unfortunately cited under the title, "A Fortunate Mistake". [ D30 ].
