Based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, their work explores the role of design in folk craft, relationships between tradition and local culture, critical approaches to sustainability and the significance of objects as cultural conduits. Published to coincide with an exhibition of the studios work, this attractive and seemingly tactile monograph touches upon all aspects of their remarkably hybrid aesthetic and simple objective beauty, featuring more than 150 photos of their work, plus original essays by Alice Rawsthorn, Marco Petroni, Fredic Baas, Lidewij Edelkoort, Libby Sellers and others. This book, published originally as an exhibition catalogue, remains the only overview of the early oeuvre of this Italian design duo. Printed locally on specifically sourced paper it rans as a limited first (and only) edition. This publication is therefore very scarce especially 'as new' & still in it's original wrapping. As a holiday season bonus the courtesy card that was printed alongside the exhibition / publication is included. ** The perfect gift for the discerning design afficionado or rare book collector! ** FREE SHIPPING.

Two centre stitched volumes (ISBN 9789462084490/9789462084483) held together with a cover, 100+124p, illustrations (some in color), 24 cm. Very good/fine. Special limited edition of 1000; listed for the Best Dutch Book Designs 2018. Not long ago the Design Museum in Den Bosch received two substantial and important gifts: the ceramics collection of designer and interior architect Benno Premsela (1920-1997) and over 250 jewellery pieces from the collection of the museum's past director Yvònne Joris (1950-2013). This was cause for celebration in the shape of an exhibition and an accompanying two-part publication in one volume, designed by Haller Brun. The publisher was keen to offer both publications separately, so the designers opted for two cahiers. For the museum, these are presented together in one cover under the title Show Yourself. The duality of the two cahiers is elaborated in black and white paper, smooth as opposed to rough cover board, and a straight-cut fore-edge for the Premsela cahier contrasting with an untrimmed and therefore pointed fore-edge for the Joris book. The way the cover is folded so as to gather the two cahiers together is an ingenious reaction to this. Large silver page numbers are placed brazenly in the middle of the page in the Joris, but on closer inspection this turns out not to be an empty gesture: this way they form an effective and attractive divider between the English and Dutch texts. The play with black, white and the silver overprinting of the all-embracing cover produces a fine contrast against which the colour reproductions sparkle brilliantly. And the gems in the Joris cahier can be picked straight off the page.
