Part One deals with the European discovery of America; Part Two with Cortes and the Aztecs; Part Three covers Pizarro and the Incas, and Part Four discusses the varying roles of the Spanish in the Americas -- from monks to military. Written from the point of view of a European historian, the book has an added depth in bringing out the relation between Old World events and New World ventures. BNDING/CONDITION: two color cloth binding, turquoise with off-white at the spine; vignette in darker turquoise; turquoise and black spine text; the top edge tint is probably some shade of turquoise (age darkened now); owner's name and date, otherwise a Very Good book, with a Good dust jacket; the jacket spine is somewhat darkened, but the art sill colorful and attractive; publisher's price on the jacket flap is intact. chronology, appendices, index. 8vo (about 8.5 inches tall). 404 pages.
