Inner hinges are sound and not split. 230 pp +32 pp of B&W plates 4to. This book covers the history of the Ukiyoe print from its beginnings in 1658. The book is illustrated with woodcuts after drawing by Moronobu, the first print-designer of the Ukiyoye school. This book deals with the movement of Ukiyoye from period to period as chapters. Each chapter gives and account, biographical details of the artists, and account of the movement during the period, and an appreciation of the chief works produced. There are 16 tipped-in color illustrations and 31 B&W illustrations. A clean very presentable copy.
