The sketch is dated at bottom right "July 21, 1976" and further inscribed & signed "Best wishes to Doug! / Ted Key & Hazel" across the bottom. The corners and edges are lightly creased and there are two vertical creases down the page. Very good. Ted Key [1912-2008], born Theodore Keyser, was an American cartoonist and writer. The single panel cartoon "Hazel" was his most famous creation. "Hazel" is said to have come to him in 1943 in a dream, which he drew the next morning and sent to the Saturday Evening Post, where it was accepted and began running regularly. Key later adapted his comic panel into the television show "Hazel" starring Shirley Booth.
