About The Author: Dr. R. N. Batta, is a civil servant educated in India and abroad. He has done M.A., M.Phil. in Economics from India followed by a M.Sc. Environmental Economics from the University of Bradford, U.K. He later completed his Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from India. The author has several publications to his credit in the area of tourism, transport and the environment, has presented research papers in 20 countries in the world and has done various consultancy assignments for many international bodies. He has been teaching Economics in the University of the South Pacific, Suva, Fiji Islands.
