The publisher planned a 5-program series of conversations and performance called 'Music on Television.' This was the first of the programs and was based on the Saroyan play. Saroyan joined Jack Beeson and conductor Peter Herman Adler in a discussion which also included sneak previews of the scenes. It was followed by the premier of the opera on March 17, 1970.
