Sequence of 26 poems, often collages of the author's own lines with quotations from Burton, with some poems entirely the author's, sometimes in Burton's language, and one or two "composed" entirely from Burton. Many items were previously published elsewhere, in different versions and/or under different titles. With a woodcut entitled "Melancholy" taken from the Augsburg Chronicle (c1480).
