Employed by the Minnesota Department of Conservation, US Fish & Wildlife Service, and Texas A & M, he became Professor of Wildlife Science at Texas A & M and retired as a Professor Emeritus in 1988. A fascinating book by a man whose trails were ones of personal gratification, professional attainment, and religious fulfillment and who tried to impress a similar approach to life in his children and graduate students. Proceeds from the sale of this book benefit environmental restoration and education.

My one great loss was when I had to say farewell to Kenya, following a sky trail, from people and the land I had learned to love. Trails that lead from somewhere may have started in the cow pens on a 72-acre farm in south Texas brush country in the arms of a Mom and Dad who knew how to love and take care of 14 children in only a one-room shack, were followed by traveling the world over, seeing the portals of four higher universities, working with five major organizations, serving as President.
