Prima edizione
First Edition. 4to, title page, introduction and 135 loose leaves housed in publisher's three-ring binder with printed label on front. Limited to 1000 numbered copies, this avant-garde anthology followed in the footsteps of Richard Kostelanetz's influential "Assembling" series, gathering contributions from a range of artists and writers who submitted anything they pleased that would fit into the unifying format, a standard 8-1/2 X 11 inch notebook. "The intent of this book is to call attention to activities in the area of notebooks, community art and correspondence art and to encourage other people to launch projects of their own." (from the introductory letter). Among the 40 contributors to this volume are Arakawa, Geoff Hendricks, John Perrault, Jerome Rothenberg, Russell Edson, Dick Higgins, Jim Harrison, Richard Kostelanetz, and many more. Owing to its loose-leaf format, it was susceptible to dismantling with the result that despite a relatively large edition, copies on the market have become rather uncommon. Slight toning to some page-extremities; a couple of punch-holes a bit pulled; just about fine.
