Thomas Stothard (1755-1834) was an English painter and engraver. Anna Eliza Bray (1790-1883) was an English novelist and writer, first married to Charles Alfred Stothard, son of Thomas Stothard. "Bray's career was varied, her output consisting of twelve historical novels and twelve works of non-fiction, issuing from some of London's best publishing houses, including John Murray, Longmans, Bentley, and Chapman and Hall. As a novelist she aimed to create "living history" in her narratives, and she was careful to construct each novel's period and setting with sufficient accuracy."
