Softcover. First Edition; First Printing. Wraps, good+ with long tear at rear spine fold, but rear wrap still attached. Three page references in pencil on rear end paper, and three discreet pencil marks on those pages, by Franklin Rosemont. Taped to a front blank is a short 6-line autograph letter from Elisa Breton to Franklin a…nd Penelope Rosemont. Her handwriting is somewhat difficult to read, but Breton does compliment Arsenal: Surrealist Suversiion, the first issue of which appeared in 1970. The Rosemonts had visited the Bretons in 1966.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 244 pp.

Superbe description picturale de la ville et de sa topographie qui surprend le poète :"Ce quadrillage de canaux et le carrelage de tulipes nous laissent en grande indécision. [.] Ce pays est très beau décidément." Elisa, l'épouse de Breton, a ajouté quelques lignes d'une tonalité toute surréaliste à la suite du texte principal : "Elisa à Amsterdam est issue d'un moule de pain d'épices et d'une entorse en puissance d'antiquaires." Jean Schuster (1929-1995) rejoint le groupe surréaliste en 1947. "This grid pattern of canals and the tulip tiling leaves us in great indecision. [.] This country is decidedly very beautiful." His wife Elisa Breton added a few lines of a Surrealist tone following the main text: "Elisa in Amsterdam comes from a gingerbread tin and a potential twisting from antiquarians." Jean Schuster (1929-1995) joined the Surrealist group in 1947. Close to Benjamin Péret and André Breton, he will become Breton's executor. *.

Dans la vase à quoi se limite la vue de l'hôtel de l'Océan un bateau penché dit son nom : "Rose effeuillée". Rien de moins.
