Hardcover. Condizione: Good/Very Good. First Edition. FIRST EDITION. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Red cloth cover with black emboss on cover and spine is soiled and worn. The lower tips of both the back and front boards are bumped and frayed to the point of exposing the board slightly. The pages show signs of discoloration due to age, previous owner's names are written on the inside front cover and the first flyleaf. The pages are relatively clean, but have a few pencil notes from one of the previous owners. The binding is tight and the hinges open freely. This book is in good to very good condition.

Text is clean and free of marks, binding tight and solid, boards rubbed and worn and sunned to the extremities. Elizabeth Barrett Browning was a prolific writer and reviewer in the Victorian period, and in her lifetime, her reputation as a poet was at least as great as that of her husband, poet Robert Browning. Some of her poetry has been noted in recent years for strong feminist themes, but the poems for which Elizabeth Barrett Browning is undoubtedly best know are Sonnets from the Portuguese.
