Hardback. Condizione: Fair. Objective: To insure that all teachers are aware of the 50th anniversary of the classic The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. Our educational plan will not only encourage those not yet using this classic title to adopt this book into their curriculum, but provide incentive to use other of the Narnia titles as well. There is ample evidence that this series has long been a staple in the classroom and the 50th anniversary gives us the perfect reason to make sure these books are at the forefront of all teachers' minds. If we can increase the number of teachers using all the Narnia titles this will have long-term sales benefits; teachers will often continue to use the same titles year after year, generating sales of classroom sets. A targeted educational outreach will be made to over 110,000 teachers and major curriculum decision-makers at schools across the country. *A free teacher's edition of The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, which includes a guide to teaching all seven books in the series. This has been written by an educational specialist. Supplemental materials in the book will include a back-of -the-book ad about the other books in the series, the illustrated editions, the box set and the gift omnibus edition. The book will also prominently advertise and give full details about the art contest. The edition will also include on the inside covers the citations the Chronicles have received from such key media as School Library Journal and Newsweek. *Special teacher's prizes for the art contest. A substantial incentive has been added to the art contest to entice teachers to get their classes to participate. All teachers who submit 20 or more entries will be entered into a sweepstakes to win one of seven personal computers. Again, details will be fully outlined in the teacher's edition. *Distribution of teacher's guide to every middle school in the country. This extensive distribution will of the teacher's guide will reach the English Department heads at every middle school in the country. We will also reach a majority of middle school English and reading teachers at the schools that have been screened for pupil per capita spending. We will mail in excess of 25,000. Teacher's editions mail in early August to reach teachers as the school year begins. Contest entries are due by the end of October. *Advertising in teacher's magazines. We will advertise in K-8 and Creative Classroom, both to announce the contest and to celebrate the 50th anniversary. This is a terrific opportunity to remind teachers about these titles. *Teacher's Kit for distribution through retail outlets. The teacher's kit will contain: Material from the teacher's edition in a pamphlet *A teacher's guide to all seven books (pulled from the teacher's edition) *A letter from the editor *25 bookmarks We will distribute this through "Teacher's Nights" events in retail chains and large independent stores. We can reach in excess of 40,000 teachers. *Direct Mail We will send an announcement flyer by direct-mail to an additional 50,000 teachers in July at their home addresses. The flyer will advertise the new editions and the contest, as well as drive teachers to the website for complete teacher edition material and contest information. By mailing to home addresses, we will give teacher's extra time to prepare lesson plans. The Teacher's Edition will be mailed at the beginning of September to a selected group of influential teachers. *Educational Conventions The Teacher's Edition will be distributed to both teachers and librarians at all national educational shows beginning at NCTE in September 2000. We will begin taking reservations for these at IRA and ALA Conventions in May and June 2000. Birmingham, Christian (illustratore).…
