Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good Plus. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. Second Edition (Revised and Enlarged) published February 1930. Very gently read. Interior is clean with the odd finger smudge. Sporadic underlining and marginalia throughout. No dustjacket. Gilt titles to spine are quite faded but legible. Boards are lightly bumped a…nd rubbed to extremities. The foldout facsimile of a Master Mason's Certificate of the Grand Lodge of Ireland is present and in Fine condition. Cahill delves into Freemasonry's tenets, noting that Christianity and Freemasonry are irreconcilable, and the book overstates the Church's opposition.

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. First American Edition. Boston: Patrick Donahoe, 1855. [The Title Page continues: ".the most important Addresses, Speeches, Controversial Sermons &c. Delivered in Ireland, England and Scotland, Together with His Celebrated Letters to Lord John Russell, Lord Palmerston, The Duke of Wel…lington, the Earl of Derby, the Earl of Carlisle, &c. &c. &c. Being the Most Interesting Work Ever Presented to the Catholic Public."} Daniel William Cahill (1796-1864), was a noted Irish-American educator and lecturer. An ordained Roman Catholic priest, he strongly opposed the established Church of Ireland. He raised vast sums of money from the Irish diaspora that implemented his good works. This is a Very Good copy of the First American Edition, which is uncommon. Brown cloth binding, decoratively stamped, with gilt lettering on the spine. Clean text; 392 pages; with a contemporary signature on the FFEP. The text is very bright and clear, with occasional and minor spotting; pages somewhat stiff to turn. The covers are rather worn-looking,with bumped corners, but are sound. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First American Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good Plus. No Jacket. First Edition. New York & Montreal: D. & J. Sadlier & Co., 1885. Daniel William Cahill (1796-1864), a noted Irish-American educator and lecturer. An ordained Roman Catholic, he strongly opposed the established Church of Ireland. He raised vast sums of money that implemented his g…ood works. This is a Very Good Plus to Near Fine copy of the First American Edition, a handsome production typical in the Irish diaspora. Fancy Victorian decorative binding; brown cloth, fancy blindstampings filled with black and gilt. Large octavo in size, with a clean text; 511 pages. Light rubbing and bumping. The pages are unfoxed, but Sadlier evidently put all the production cost into the binding, not the quality of paper; it is very soft and is tanning more than expected. Still, one will purchase this volume for its attractive binding and historical importance. Laid-in is a page from another book which appears to be a bibliography of Irish history; Quercus has been unable to identify the specific original work, but must have been definitive. Bookplate on front paste-down and a modern (dated 1972) inscription on the FFEP. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good Plus/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Foolscap8vo, Half black morocco, dark green moire cloth, lettered "Dr Cahill's Letters and Speeches" in gilt on backstrip. Head of backstrip pulling away, pencil scribbles on free endpapers, one pamphlet shaved close losing one letter from each line on one leaf and two letters from each line on…another, some browning of paper otherwise a very good copy. A full list of the pamphlets can be provided on request to serious enquiries. Includes all five of Cahill's letters to Lord John Russell, relative to his Lordship's epistle to the Bishop of Durham on Papal aggression and all five of Cahill's letters to the Right Hon. the Earl of Derby.
