Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents the findings of experiments conducted to determine the maximum number of fish that can be passed through a fishway of given dimensions per unit of time. The author, a Fish and Wildlife Service biologist, sought to provide a margin of safety for fish while also reduc…ing construction and maintenance costs by assessing whether the size of existing fishways could be reduced without impairing fish passage. The experiments found that surprisingly large numbers of fish could pass through a fishway of relatively modest size, suggesting that many existing fishways are larger than needed. By examining entry capacity, maximum numbers of accumulated fish within a pool, and fallback activity, this book contributes valuable data and insights to the field of fishway design and the preservation of fish populations. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the intricacies of fishway capacity, a crucial aspect of dam design and construction to safeguard fish populations during upstream migration. The author, a fisheries biologist, delves into the complexities of fish behaviour and hydraulics within fishways, examining…factors that influence the maximum number of fish that can pass through. Through a series of experiments, the book presents detailed observations on fish passage time, pool residence, fallbacks, and the effect of changing hydraulics. The findings contribute to the understanding of fishway design and the optimization of fish passage facilities at dams, thereby ensuring the preservation of fish populations while balancing the need for water resource development. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Aggiungi al carrelloHalbleinen. Condizione: Ausreichend. Klein-Oktav, 16 cm. [1853]. Erste Auflage, Frontispiz, 2 Blatt, 171 Seiten.
