Beautifully intact and strong binding. A small tear to the top of page 223. Overall light toning of the interior pages, else near fine. 4.125" x 6.375" x…1.5". 16mo. 804pp. Lacks rear (blank yellow) end page. A Baptist supplemental religious text once personally owned and used by Caroline C. Fillmore (1813-1881), second wife of 13th U.S. President Millard Fillmore (1800-1874). Signed Caroline C. Fillmore, Buffalo, 1860. She married Millard Fillmore in 1858 in Albany. They lived for 16 years in a mansion in Niagara Square, Buffalo. She is buried next to President Fillmore. Signed and dated by Caroline Fillmore as "Caroline C. Fillmore / Buffalo - 1860" on the front endpaper. The customized front cover is gilt embossed "FILLMORE" in the center of a multilobed tooled cartouche. Deaccessioned from the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Library, the institution founded by Millard and Abigail Fillmore. Provenance sound.
