Red and black title page, frontis is missing and page (iii) is torn vertically and lacking 1/3 of the page, Wonderful engravings and lots of them, many showing the devils that beset the man attempting unsuccesfully to sleep. The first volume ends on Twee-en Tachtig Jarig Levn "eynde", then the Register van Boeken by J. en H. van der Deyster Gedrukt (in Gothic type), then an engraved frontis plate for the Spiegel. the title page "den lesten Druk, van nieuws oversien en gecorrigeert, en van veel Druksauten verbetert, with the publishing information of van der utte, Amsterdam but no date. Also wonderfully illustrated with engravings, printed in both Gothic type and standard type. There are no final blanks for the Spiegel but it is complete. Leather boards are a bit crackled, rubbed at the corners and edges. Spine has 5 raised bands with gilt decorations and a #4 in gilt, spine tips are quite worn, front hinge cracking and front board threatening to detach but still holding. Half title for Slapeloose Nachten has an old ownership inscription and there is a very old pressed violet at page 81 that has caused some browning, otherwise clean and unmarked. Paper is sturdy with only moderate foxing and aging. Quite scarce. ; 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
