Leur seul souhait est de mettre fin à leur vie parce qu'ils savent déjà qu'ils finiront par mourir et qu'ils ne veulent pas continuer à souffrir jusqu'à la mort naturelle. Malheureusement, les lois que nous avons aujourd'hui au Rwanda ne permettent pas à ces personnes d'être soulagées de ces souffrances excessives, et les législateurs ne donnent aucune raison de laisser ces personnes continuer à souffrir.

Wie in vielen anderen Ländern gibt es auch in Ruanda viele Patienten, die mit unheilbaren Krankheiten und großen Schmerzen zu kämpfen haben und deren einziger Wunsch es ist, ihr Leben zu beenden, weil sie bereits wissen, dass sie irgendwann sterben werden, und sie nicht bis zum natürlichen Tod weiter leiden wollen. Leider erlauben es die Gesetze, die wir heute in Ruanda haben, nicht, solche Menschen von ihrem unzumutbaren Leiden zu befreien, und es gibt keinen Grund, den die Gesetzgeber angeben, warum sie diese Menschen weiter leiden lassen.
