Red cloth boards stamped in gilt on the spine and upper panel. There are two original lithographs by Mark Chagall bound in to the prelims of the book. For each of the twelve stained-glass windows there are a sketch and preparatory drawing printed monochrome and then a colour sketch, a small model, a final model, the finished window and a detail of the window all reproduced in colour and printed in up to 21 colours. There is a touch of spotting to the free endpapers. There are three worm holes in the front board and a couple in the joint at the back (all now treated). Otherwise the cloth is clean and unmarked as are the contents. The binding is tight and the dust-jacket shows one small nick at the top edge and 5 small holes caused by the bookworms.
