Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Poverty is a fundamental and damaging feature of American culture that is ingrained in the structures, practices, and values of our institutions. An adequate understanding of the roles and functions of poverty requires the contributions of both the liberal arts and the social sciences and cannot be shunted off to social work. Upon Whom We Depend challenges readers to examine their own ideas, beliefs, and attitudes, and to recognize how institutions can become instruments for overcoming the social arrangement by which poverty is perpetuated.

Rivista / Giornale
Magazine. Condizione: Near Fine. (Volumes 1-4). (B&W and color photos, ads, graphics, etc.) A complete run of this bi-monthly slick-paper magazine, billed as "The Magazine About Fords, People, Places and Events." It's basically a turbo-charged fanzine about All Things Ford, every issue being chock-a-block with articles, photographs (many of a historical nature), reproductions of vintage Ford Motor Company promotional materials, notices of events for Ford enthusiasts, and so much more (including pretty regular hosannahs in praise of that noted anti-Semite Henry Ford and other members of his family). Early issues were published out of Stockton, California, with Lorin Sorensen and Gordon Chamberlin sharing editorial duties (and also indicated as the publishers); as of Vol. 2, No. 4, the editorial/publication offices relocated to St. Helena, California, at which point Sorensen seems to have become the head guy, although Chamberlin was still involved. The 22 issues, beginning with the November-December 1970 issue, are: Volume 1, Nos. 1-7 (1970-1971); Volume 2, Nos. 1-6 (1972); Volume 3, Nos. 1-6 (1973); Volume 4, Nos. 1-3 (first half of 1974). The final issue was dated May-June 1974, and while there's no indication in the magazine itself of an intention to cease publication, the library records I've been able to find all agree that the run ended in 1974. (And speaking of library records, an OCLC search turns upon only six institutional holdings of this publication, four of which are in Michigan.) These magazines are contained in two custom binders, imprinted with "Ford Life" on the front covers and spines, from which individual issues can be removed if desired. Because of this, most issues are in mint condition or close to it, with just the occasional bit of external rubbing or corner-wear; the binders themselves are also quite nice, with just a modest bump to the upper right corner of the first binder. In addition to the 22 issues of "Ford Life," the second binder also includes four issues (all from 1975) of a similar publication, "Ford Illustrated," issued by an outfit called Sunshine Publishing House in Bisbee, Arizona. Although apparently unrelated to "Ford Life," it covers pretty much the same ground, the main difference being the inclusion of more color photos and illustrations, as contrasted with the earlier publication's mostly black-and-white material. ****NOTE that these binders are very heavy, and while Media Mail shipping to U.S. destinations is built into the price, an additional shipping fee will be assessed for either international shipping of these, or for Priority Mail service to U.S. desinations. If this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.****.
