Fente au pli central du feuillet double de titre Manuscrit de Chaper, daté et signé, intitulé « Rapport de mission sur la côte nord du Venezuela », retraçant sa missiond'exploration scientifique en Amérique du sud. Passionnants et nombreux renseignements sur la faune (principalement) des environs de Nueva Barcelona, récoltés durant sa mission de 5 semaines. « [.] Monsieur le Ministre, Par un arrêté en date du 25 août 1884 Vous m'avez fait l'honneur de me charger d'une mission scientifique gratuite au Venezuela à l'effet d'y entreprendre des recherches d'histoire naturelle et d'y recueillir des collections destinées à L'Etat.
