Piano and lyrics Some edgewear and creasing of covers, interior fine. The piece is a sentimental American ballad describing a wounded soldier asking a comrade to tell the former's mother that he will not return home. Originally written for the Spanish American war, it was revived during World War I. It is written in a parlor ballad style (simple melody, very emotional lyrics).
