Afirman que la resiliencia, en los educadores, no es solo su habilidad para recuperarse en circunstancias extremadamente adversas, sino también su capacidad para la ?resiliencia en lo cotidiano?, que hace que sean… capaces de sostener la vocación, la eficacia y el compromiso requeridos para responder positivamente ante las inevitables incertidumbres inherentes a su vida profesional. Se ha escrito mucho a lo largo de los años sobre el estrés y el burnout de los profesores, pero existe poca investigación que reporte las condiciones esenciales para que los profesores sostengan su vocación y su eficacia a lo largo de su vida profesional, en contextos difíciles y de cambio. Basándose en una amplísima gama de investigaciones educativas, psicológicas, socioculturales y de la neurociencia, junto a expresivos relatos de los propios profesores en escuelas primarias y secundarias de ámbito internacional, y partiendo también de su propia investigación sobre la identidad de los educadores, los autores concluyen que la resiliencia en los docentes puede ser alimentada por los entornos intelectuales, sociales y organizacionales en los que viven y trabajan, en vez de ser simplemente un atributo personal o un rasgo determinado por la naturaleza o por la experiencia pasada.
