Bookplate on the front pastedown, dampstaining to the preliminaries including the title page but the rest of the interior is unaffected, a paper label on the spine with some loss but nothing written on it, a tear to the spine has been newly repaired though remains visible, fraying and a small tear at the crown of the spine, as well as edgewear and rubbing to the boards, still a very good copy. The bookplate may be that of Dr. D.L. Phares, an influential physician, educator, author, and preacher in Mississippi in the mid to late 19th century.
