Unique cover w/a stamped gilded lady in long dress and pontifical hat representing Russia, standing on a snake w/severed head, ax in one hand, pontifical double crossed standard in the other. Very old book with significant wear: Front hinge broken, spine separated from binding; Front cover very worn and stained; Binding is still strong w/ no pages loose or missing; Minimal latter-day marginalia w/blue ink pen.
