Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is a practical guide to controlling a pervasive and destructive creature: the pocket gopher. The author draws on extensive knowledge of gopher behavior to offer a detailed and comprehensive understanding of these burrowing rodents. The book delves into their various species, their adaptability to changing environments, and the significant agricultural damage they can cause, particularly in the American West. Beyond simply describing gopher habits, the author explores the history of gopher control strategies, including poisoning, trapping, ooding, and fumigation. The book also analyzes the effectiveness of these methods and the challenges associated with their implementation. Furthermore, the author delves into community-level control efforts, highlighting the importance of coordinated action and the pitfalls of bounty systems. The book's insights into pocket gopher control methods and community-based approaches to pest management offer valuable historical context and practical wisdom for anyone facing the challenges of these destructive rodents. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Aggiungi al carrelloThe two letters each 1p., 4to. Both on aged paper, with wear to left hand margin causing loss to text. In the first letter Lent gives details of 8 of his 17 purchases on that day, adding that 'The Lots sold quite well, a good many co are here, also Bowes, Blackwell, Mc Leis Taylor (Scheurer). Edwards, Pickering & E. Mathews, have marks.' In the second letter he gives details of 5 of his 10 purchases, one of them for 'Mr Butterwick'. He gives details of three commissions which Butterwick left with him, only one of which was successful. Catalogue: 31 + [1]pp., 4to. In brown printed wraps. Aged and worn. Annotated in pencil, with some of the 831 lots priced and named. A sturdy country-house library (the top seller, at £130 to Drayton, was a first edition of Chesterfield's letters). Comparison of the catalogue with Lent's letters gives no indication that the sale was ringed. The only copy of the catalogue on either COPAC or OCLC WorldCat at the British Library.
