Many black-and-white illustrations (some of which are printed photographs), complete. Pages are very clean and intact except for light age toning. Covers are clean and intact overall except for slight darkening, a small chip at tail of spine, and slight loosening to binding. A Very Good, almost Near Fine copy. Charming souvenir booklet promoting tourism in Monterey, California. The booklet contains a variety of brief information such as legends, histories, and places of interest in connection to Monterey. Among the subjects addressed herein are the Spanish acquisition of Monterey, the robbery of the Custom House and its connection to the Allen residence, the legend of the lost pearls of Loreta, the Sherman Rose Tree, Colton Hall, the Presidio, Pacific Grove, butterfly trees, Seventeen-Mile Drive, Cypress Point, Seal Rocks, Carmel, Monterey, and Del Monte. Much of the booklet consists of small illustrations with very brief captions. The illustrations show many scenes in and around Monterey and other subjects related to the region. In the back are two small black-and-white maps, one of which has an artistic quality and presents the peninsula from an angled view and the other one being a street map of Monterey showing some of the historical points of interest.
