There is no introduction to the recipes, leaving one to wonder about Rose's Banana Meat Loaf, but the instructions are written in a warm and personal narrative. Reading Catfish Stew, Riverbank Style, calls to mind family gatherings with its laborious, love filled instructions yielding a delicious sounding stew made with salt pork, fat back and lots of potatoes and onion. This is a fun collection and it's sure to spur some vintage chefs to action (um, not old chefs, but those who love to cook vintage recipes.)
