Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Paru en 1653, le discours « L'Amour divisé » de Charles Vion d'Alibray est la première traduction d'un « Discorso » de Guidobaldo Bonarelli « In difesa del doppio amore della sua Celia », sorti en 1612. Celia est une nymphe de la pastorale Filli di Sciro du même Bonarelli, un texte qui eut un grand succès tout au long du XVIIe siècle, en Italie et en France. Elle tombe amoureuse de deux jeunes hommes qui l'ont sauvée d'un centaure, les aime tous les deux « également et parfaitement », et envisage même de se suicider à cause de son incertitude. Cette trouvaille relative au double amour de la nymphe suscita aussitôt une polémique, à laquelle l'auteur répondit par son « Discorso ». La traduction française, qui abrège et adapte le texte original, est la dernière publication de Vion d'Alibray, et s'inscrit parfaitement dans son idéologie théâtrale, dont ses écrits antérieurs témoignent.
