Brown; Shambhala; 1986; ISBN: 978-0394742021, Softcover, 6.2 x 1.2 x 9.2 inches, 358pp. BOOKSELLER SINCE 1968. NEAR FINE condition ? Like New but for light…wear to covers and front cover lift. Binding is tight with no crease in spine, clean pages, and no markings noticed (ghost of erasure of original penciled price on opening page). There is foxing to page ends from age. Book does not appear to have been read. This is the 4th printing of the 1986 first edition (see photos). ?Transformations of Consciousness: Conventional and Contemplative Perspectives on Development,? authored by Ken Wilber, et al. and published by Shambhala in 1986. It is a comprehensive exploration of the complex phenomenon of consciousness from both conventional and contemplative viewpoints. Wilber, a philosopher and psychologist recognized for his integral theory, employs this unique perspective to delve into the multilayered nature of consciousness. He juxtaposes conventional Western psychological models, which often focus on ego development, with contemplative Eastern perspectives. He highlights the limitations and potentialities of each. The book underlines the inherent subjectivity of consciousness, and advocates for an integral approach. One that appreciates vast complexity and avoids reductionism. It explores various states and stages of consciousness and discusses how they manifest in individual and collective experiences. Wilber offers unique insights into how these transformations of consciousness can be catalyzed, exploring meditation, mindfulness, and other spiritual practices. ?Transformations of Consciousness? is a seminal work that bridges the gap between Western psychology and Eastern spirituality, providing an inclusive framework for understanding consciousness. This approach resonates with psychologists, philosophers, and spiritual seekers alike, contributing to a deeper and more nuanced understanding of human consciousness and its potential for transformation.

Drawing on modern psychology and psychiatry, as well as the world's great meditative traditions, this book presents the first 'full-spectrum' model of human development--one that includes both the conventional stages of psychological growth and the 'higher' levels of spiritual development. An excellent presentation of the stages of mindfulness meditation as well as the spectrum of development and the spectrum of psychopathology. Authors Ken Wilber, Jack Engler and Daniel P. Brown know what they are talking about. Because levels of meditative development are still not widely known, because so few have ventured deeply into meditation. A very worthwhile book for any interested in meditative or contemplative development. This is a gem, a true classic. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; xvii, 356 pages.

Condizione: Wie neu. Deutsche Erstausgabe. 367 (1) Seiten mit 11 graphischen Darstellungen. 21,9 cm. Sehr guter Zustand. Frisches Exemplar. . . . Aus: wikipedia-Ken_Wilber.
