[NEW MEXICO]. First edition. 8vo. Pictorial wrappers, 63 (1)pp., introduction, illustrated, acknowledgments, references. Fall was "an American success story" with an unhappy ending. He went to New Mexico while it was still a territory and contributed as a public officeholder. Later while a Cabinet official, he leased certain government oil lands to two petroleum magnates which created the infamous Teapot Dome Scandal. Fall secretly leased federal oil reserves to private companies without competitive bidding. He also received personal loans and gifts from oil executives. The scandal became one of the most infamous cases of government corruption in U.S. history. Fine, bright copy.
