This copy is not a first edition, but it is an early printing. Bound in alight green with faded gilt lettering on the spine and front cover. Center portrait illustration on front board, surounded by a floral heart. Back cover is plain. There is corner bumping with board showing on the bottom corners. Some wear at head and foot of the spine. Hinges and gutters are solid. All edges are smooth cut. Text and illustrations are printed on a very thick, 'cardstock' type of paper. This has held up quite well over the years and illustrations remain sharp. Binding is being to loosen in places. No ownership or other markings. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Corners of the box's top are split in poor condition, but is present and still houses book. A nice, illustrated copy of one of the Hoosier Poet's best-known poems.
