Crisp and clean except for a small fingerprint on the front fixed endpaper and two more at the bottom of the "Notes from History" insert, a few very light rub marks in the gilding along the head and foreedges of the page block, a pinpoint surface chip at the right front of the cover, and tiny points of rubbing at the left rear corners of the cover, otherwise excellent. 647pp. Full green leather with hubbed spine, gilt titles and decoration, bound-in ribbon marker, decorative endpapers, all page edges gilded, "Notes from History" laid in.
