Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a F/O name and address on the FFFP/person was a prominent football coach at Winfield High School 1950s to 1980s. Book Condition: Fair; boards show considerable biopredation to edges, head, and tail. No DJ. Gray cloth boards and spine with black and gold lettering on the spine and front board. Clean internals. Inner hinges are sound and not split. 344 pp 8vo. Bobby Dodd was an outstanding football player for the University of Tennessee (1928-1930). After he graduated, he eventually became the head coach of the Georgia Institute of Technology, better known as Georgia Tech. Dodd led the Yellow Jackets to a national championship in 1954, and many of his coaching techniques are still in use today. This book is full of photographs and Xs and Os diagrams that support his winning ways at Georgia Tech. He gives advice on everything from the psychology of football to purchasing uniforms. An internally clean copy that is a good reading/studying book or just one to fill a hole one's collection.

Poor condition. First edition (not direct edition/printing stated provided as was their contemporary practice) SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. viii, 344 pages. Hardcover: H 21.75cm x L 14.75cm. Dust jacket tattered with only front panel, front flap, rear flap, and small portion of spine head still extent; soiling with creasing, chips, and tears to surviving parts; dj somewhat presentable in mylar Brodart protector. Gray cloth stained and frayed with abraded surface patches exposing underlying cardstock (exterior cosmetics somewhat mitigated by being covered by dj protector). Some toning and small stains to text block edges. Endpapers foxed and toned. Two-line blue-ink inscription "Best Regards, | Bobby Dodd" at top of front free endpaper followed by five-line ink inscription dated 11-2-54 but with the inscriber's name illegible; likewise another three-line ink inscription from same individual dated 10/27/54 on page 23 (presumably this is someone affiliated with the Georgia Tech program but various name permutations do not match a player although a search for a list of assistant coaches was successful); additional unfortunate ink markings amongst rear text. Binding is firm. Sold as is.
