It suggests counter-measures, too, such as: The church ought to get into the thick of things where people live, and if that causes the people of the church to get their heads bloody, well, that's what happened to the Founder of the Church, too.The essential purpose of the book is to cause the reader to think again about theology, the Bible, and the work of the church. It doesn't intend to tell him what to believe, but it does tell him some of the things that are worth thinking about. It should penetrate deep into the hearts and souls and gizzards and whatever else is important in the makeup of laymen, and it might even touch a clergyman here and there, too.
