In Nineteenth-Century Lives, ten distinguished critics consider what it means to narrate a life. Their illustrative texts are taken largely from biography, autobiography and the novel, but narrative is the broader genre that unites their inquiries. The contributors include Margaret Atwood, J Hillis Miller, and Phyllis Rose. Morton Cohen contributes a chapter on Lewis Carroll. Condition: Very good condition with one small tear to the wrapper at the head of the spine and offsetting / tanning to the ffep and half-title from the letter, and the envelope is heavily tanned.
