We review the main theoreticalmethods describing decay processes induced by thestrong interaction, like Coupled channels method forGamow resonances, R-matrix theory, Distorted waveapproach, Semiclassical approach, Multi step and Twocenter shell model. Thus, most of the book isaddressed to a broad audience within the nuclearphysics community. Secondly, this book is an attemptto clarify some fundamental aspects connected withthe fine structure or anisotropy in alpha decay andternary cold fission. Finally, the self consistentmicroscopic theory of the alpha decay is analyzed.
