Thinks 'Clarke will use his influence with the Times', the idea that 'King' has done so being 'entirely out of the question'. He does not 'suppose there is a word of truth in that paragraph in Modern Society', a paper about which he knows nothing: 'from its print & style it seems pretty low'. 'If such a statement had appeared in any reputable quarter, it might have been worth while writing to say that the Queen had given full permission - but I wd not condescend to correct "Modern Society".'
