Hardcover. Condizione: As New. Tibetan communities across China are undergoing rapid and potentially irreversible social, economic and cultural changes. This book presents new perspectives on the current situation of Tibetans and provides a baseline for assessing the magnitude and direction of future changes. From a range of dis…ciplinary perspectives the authors provide original analyses based on first hand fieldwork and a careful scrutiny of official documents and data as they examine three key aspects of Tibet's development: pastoral production labor and social policy. This collection of essays represents the most up-to-date and comprehensive assessment of development transitions on the Tibetan Plateau, and forms an important contribution to development studies of contemporary societies undergoing rapid change within China.

Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. First Edition. The Shinboners: The Complete History of the North Melbourne Football Club - Since 1869. Written by Nick Bowan, Dan Eddy, & Andrew Gigacz. Edited by Geoff Slattery. Foreword by Glenn Archer. Numerous colour and b&w photographs throughout, including many f…ascinating vintage shots. Includes a list of every player since 1925, club records, team of the century, honour roll, plus bibliography. With club theme song printed to inner front flap of dustjacket. From rear cover (in full): "'North Melbourne's history has been a mix of great struggle, great honour, and, since the 1970s, more than a fair share of glory.' So wrote Nick Bowen in his introduction to The Shinboners. After years of battling bureaucracy, North Melbourne, which had dominated the VFA through the early part of the 20th century, was finally admitted to the Victorian Football League in 1925, along with Footscray and Hawthorn. Those early years in the Big League were tough, and it was not until 1945 that North played its first final, and 1950, its first Grand Final. In 1975 came the first Premiership. Along the club's long history, there have been legends and heroes, on and off the field, as the club fought many down times, and more than occasional threats to merge or to be relocated. This proud and diverse history is wonderfully represented in The Shinboners, a book that blends great stories, great moments and great individuals with wonderful archival photos". Large format volume. Printed in China. Bound in original black boards with bright silver lettering to front board & spine, pictorial endpapers (an illustration titled "North Story" by Jamie Cooper), in publisher's unclipped pictorial dustjacket. A very nice clean tight solid hardcover copy. The dustjacket is now protected in a removable clear mylar cover. 288pp. Large heavy book, extra shipping may be required. Scarce title. RARE.

Soft cover. Condizione: New. 435 pages, illustrations, maps ; 28 cm. 'In the past quarter century, Champa scholarship has been seeking ways out of the interpretative framework inherited from Georges Maspero s Le royaume de Champa, which portrayed Champa as a unitary kingdom of provinces ruled by absolute kings. Scholars have sin…ce been working to revise this portrait, to develop new thinking about the way the kingdom and its territories were structured, and also to critique Maspero s decision to end his history of Champa with the 1471 capture of the Chà Bàn citadel and fall of Vijaya. Much new data has been produced in recent decades, thanks especially to the access to Champa field sites enjoyed since the 1990s by international scholars under Vietnam s open door policy, and to the resources for research and discussion now available to Vietnamese scholars. Several long-term joint projects have, more-over, brought Vietnamese and overseas expertise to bear on archaeological sites or collections of documents related to Champa.'.
