Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. First. 514 pages. Viking. Hardcover. Arranged chronologically with brief and insightful commentary by Charters on the history and context of the time. Notes and Index. An unparalleled and immense trove. Correspondence begins the year 'On The Road' appeared, and altered the American literary landscape. It ends one day before Kerouac's death in 1969 at the age of 47. In letters to friends, confidants and editors - from Allen Ginsberg, Gary Synder, Malcolm Cowley, Joyce Johnson, Philip Whalen, and Lawrence Ferlinghetti, William Burroughs, among others - Kerouac's writing life is traceable, documenting as well his travels, love affairs, and complicated family life. Book is an ex-library copy, in excellent shape however. Dust jacket is contained in a clear, protective mylar sleeve. Dj is about nf. Book appears to be about fine. Coners and edges are excellent. Minimal library markings-no pocket. Top corner left on the mylar, not the dj, there is a small place where a label was removed. Ex-Library.

Includes long essays on 68 writers and poets along with 100's of terrific photos and illustrations. Published without dustjackets both volumes are fine. Published as part of the impressive Dictionary of Literary Biography series. Uncommon. Laid in his a large 4pg. foldover program for an exhibition on writers and magazines of the lower eastside circa 1960-1980 that was held at The New York Public Library. Also laid in is a nice foldover announcement poster for the exhibition Beat Memories, the photographs of allen ginsberg that was held at the Grey Art Gallery in NYC. Book.
