Signed on the title page by Haycraft. The front endpaper is signed by Veronica Parker Johns (1907-1988), a popular Golden Age mystery…writer. The prospectus is laid in. With two Sherlockian articles by Rex Stout and Vincent Starrett. Front and rear hinges just starting else a near fine copy in dust jacket with minor wear to the spine ends. The first collection in book form of the critical writings about the mystery-crime-detective story. Prior to this publication the best of these articles had appeared only in magazines or in obscure collections. A remarkable copy of this important book, which is very scarce in dust jacket.
