A very good, clean, neat hard cover with light shelf wear, hinges and binding tight, paper cream white, but with foxing to the endpapers. In a good, moderately edge worn dust jacket with light exterior soiling.

Former library book with stamps only, no pockets or spine call letters. Covers with mild edge wear. Spine sunned and lettering faded. Some foxing to endpapers. Binding tight. Book contains the original illustrations of the 1828 edition and hitherto unpublished portraits of the Macmichael family and a reproduction of his handwriting as well as the biographies of Radcliffe, Mead, Askew, Pitcairn, and Baillie, the successive holders of the cane.
