Elaborately Blind Tooled. 4 crosses in corners of cover surrounded by ornate border. Back cover identical. Spine with raise bands, gilt and tooled in 5 compartments, title in second, date in sixth. Intricately gilt tooled turn-ins. Beautifully decorated gilt page edges. Full page engraved reproductions from drawings and paintings by Italian masters. The initial letters and all the decorative portions were designed by Henry Shaw and the figure illustrations drawn and engraved under his supervision. Internally in very good condition with no loose pages, removed book plate from paste down,slight foxing to end papers, Minor rubbing/wear to the corners and bottom edge of cover and spine edges, else very fine copy. A beautiful bible. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
