His Ukrainian plants were exporting to Bulgaria, Turkey and Rumania. When financier Robert Rothschild refused to sign over his French holdings to Alfred, Rothchild was shipped to Auschwitz concentration camp and gassed. Together with his exploitation of slave labor, put Alfried Krupp in the prisoners' dock at the Nürnberg war-crimes trials after the war. He was sentenced to twelve years in prison and confiscation of all his assets. After he was pardoned in 1951 and the confiscation of the Krupp assets was lifted he returned to international markets with Krupp becoming one of the top-selling companies in the Federal Republic of Germany. ///cf Briefe aus China an ihre Eltern Hermann und Carola Gruson sowie Tagebuch-Aufzeichnungen 1914-1917.
